EVOGO, the battery swap service brand of CATL, China’s largest power battery manufacturer, has seen its service expand to a new city.

EVOGO’s battery swap service was recently officially launched in Guiyang, Guizhou province in southwestern China, CATL announced today.

CATL now has four local EVOGO battery swap stations in operation in Guiyang, making the city the third to see the service available after Xiamen and Hefei.

EVOGO, a brand unveiled by CATL on January 22, is operated by its subsidiary, Contemporary Amperex Energy Service Technology (CAES).

The brand offers a battery swap solution consisting of battery blocks, fast battery swap stations, and an app.

On April 18, EVOGO’s battery swap service was officially launched, with Xiamen being the first city to see the service available.

On June 18, Hefei saw the launch of EVOGO’s battery swap service, becoming the second city to have CATL’s battery swap stations.

The first vehicle to support EVOGO’s battery swap service is the NAT (Next Automatic Taxi) model from China FAW’s Bestune brand, which is aimed at the shared mobility market.

On April 27, CATL announced that it had signed a framework agreement with EV startup Aiways to develop a battery swap-enabled model based on the Aiways U5, the second model to support EVOGO’s battery swap service.

On October 25, CATL, Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën and CAES also signed a framework agreement on battery swap service for EVOGO.

The three parties will develop a model based on Dongfeng Peugeot-Citroën’s Dongfeng Fukang ES600 that can use EVOGO’s battery swap service.
