BYD sold a record 28,039 NEVs in overseas markets in September, up 12.05 percent from August.

BYD (OTCMKTS: BYDDY) launched the Seal electric sedan in Singapore and Chile, bringing the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model 3 competitor to more markets.

In Singapore, BYD partnered with local dealer Vantage Automotive to launch right-hand drive versions of the Seal, according to a press release last night.

BYD showcased the BYD Seal’s driving performance and technology to Singaporean customers during a two-day launch event, according to the release.

The BYD Seal is available in three versions in Singapore, with a starting price of SGD 238,888 ($174,910), SGD 248,888, and SGD 280,888 respectively, inclusive of the COE (Certificate of Entitlement), which gives residents the right to own and use the vehicle in Singapore.

The BYD Seal battery electric vehicle (BEV), initially launched in China on July 29, 2022, is one of the main competitors to the Tesla Model 3.

The model is available in five versions in China, with current starting prices of RMB 189,800 ($26,030), RMB 202,800, RMB 222,800, RMB 239,800, and RMB 279,800.

On September 6, BYD launched the hybrid version of the Seal DM-i in China, with a starting price range of RMB166,800 to RMB236,800 yuan.

Apart from Singapore, BYD also announced the launch of the Seal BEV in Chile yesterday.

The Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) giant launched the Seal in Chile with local distributor Astara on October 6, according to BYD’s press release yesterday, which did not mention pricing information.

BYD sold a record 287,454 NEVs in September, with the Seal range contributing 14,427 units, up 93.05 percent year-on-year and up 153.11 percent from August, according to figures it released earlier this month.

In September, BYD sold a record 28,039 NEVs in overseas markets, up 12.05 percent from 25,023 in August.
