BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) will officially launch the Yuan Up later today, which will be another of its affordable compact electric SUVs.
The Yuan Up’s launch event will begin at 7 pm Beijing time on March 26, BYD announced today on Weibo.
Those interested can watch the launch live on platforms including BYD’s official Weibo account.
The Yuan Up will be the first A0-class all-electric SUV in BYD’s all-electric e-Platform 3.0, and will be smaller in size than the Yuan Plus — called the Atto 3 in several overseas markets.
The model’s length, width and height are 4,310 mm, 1,830 mm and 1,675 mm, respectively, with a wheelbase of 2,620 mm, according to a previous regulatory filing.
For comparison, the Yuan Plus has a length, width and height of 4,455 mm, 1,875 mm and 1,615 mm respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.
The Yuan Up will be powered by a single motor, which comes in two options with peak power of 70-kW and 130-kW, according to a regulatory filing in December.
The model comes in 1,430 kg, 1,520 kg and 1,540 kg versions and supports speeds up to 160 km/h.
It was previously reported that dealers will need to pay RMB 120,000 ($16,630), RMB 125,000, and RMB 130,000 for each of the three versions when picking up the vehicle.
BYD’s updated Yuan Plus Glory Edition, launched earlier this month, starts at RMB 119,800.
