The BYD Zhengzhou, the seventh roll-on/roll-off car carrier in BYD‘s expanding fleet, began sea trials on June 23. This vessel, with a maximum capacity of 7,000 vehicles, plays a vital role in supporting BYD’s overseas new energy vehicle (NEV) strategy.

Ship Departure and Technical Details

The ship departed from Guangzhou Port at 9:06 AM to begin its trial operations. According to car blogger @源之头2018 on Weibo, BYD Zhengzhou is expected to be delivered to the company by next month.

Named after the city of Zhengzhou in Henan province—one of BYD’s primary vehicle manufacturing locations—the vessel symbolizes the company’s broader commitment to self-managed logistics and infrastructure.

Reinforcing Global NEV Export Logistics

BYD has already deployed multiple ships to enhance control over its international delivery operations. Recently, the BYD Xi’an, capable of transporting 9,200 vehicles, was launched and began its maiden voyage with around 7,000 NEVs bound for destinations like the UK, Italy, Spain, and Belgium.

On the same day, the BYD Changsha, another 9,200-capacity carrier, officially joined BYD’s fleet as the sixth ship, demonstrating the brand’s rapid logistical expansion.

BYD’s Fleet Growth and Future Outlook

As of now, BYD has successfully transported over 70,000 NEVs globally using its own maritime vessels. The company continues to ramp up its operations to support the growing demand for EVs across international markets.

This strategy allows BYD to reduce dependency on third-party shipping providers. By owning its fleet, the company ensures consistent delivery timelines, optimized costs, and better protection of its vehicles in transit.
