WM Motor, Nio’s local rival, will open the pre-sale of its recently announced mid-sized all-electric SUV WM W6 in March 2021, according to cet.com.cn.

Relying on a full vehicle solution of 5 millimeter-wave radars, 7 HD cameras, and 12 ultrasonic radars, the WM W6 is equipped with a self-driving computing platform — ACU, developed in cooperation with Baidu, which has multiple safety capabilities, comprehensive AI capabilities, and cloud-based update capabilities.

The W6 is equipped with CloudAVP (Cloud Automated Valet Parking), an automated parking system developed in cooperation with Baidu that is used in two scenarios: one is a parking lot with fixed parking spaces such as one’s own home or company, known as HAVP; the other is a commercial parking lot like a shopping mall or office building, known as PAVP.

In the HAVP scenario, the vehicle only needs to complete the route learning once. After that, the user can get out of the car and the vehicle will automatically park into space. In the PAVP scenario, after the user gets out of the car, the vehicle will find a parking space and park itself. In both scenarios, the user can summon the vehicle unmanned to the user’s location via cell phone when picking up the car.

The WM W6 continues the family design language of WM Motor, and although it is a new model, it does not look unfamiliar.

The car does away with the previous WM Motor’s large vertical center screen and instead connects the dashboard to the center screen and a separate air conditioning control panel/vehicle function control panel located below the center screen.
