Warren Buffett-backed Chinese electric car company BYD posted several images of the EA1 model on its WeChat account Monday and asked readers to guess its final name.

The clues provided by the company make it easy to see that the model will be named after the “Dolphin”.

BYD said it will officially announce the name on Tuesday, and more information can probably be expected.

It’s worth noting that the model appeared on the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology’s approval list last week, with the name Dolphin displayed on the rear of the car.

The new car, previously unveiled at the 2020 Shanghai Auto Show, had been named the EA1 and is based on the BYD e Platform 3.0.

BYD Dolphin is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous motor with a maximum power of 70 kW, a top speed of 150km/h and a lithium iron phosphate battery pack.

The car’s length, width and height are 4070 (4125)/1770/1570mm, with a wheelbase of 2700mm.

BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 features four major domain controllers under a new electrical and electronic architecture and BYD OS, a self-developed vehicle operating system.
