BYD Changsha Becomes Sixth Car Carrier in Fleet

BYD has launched its sixth car carrier, BYD Changsha, just three days after BYD Xi’an began its maiden voyage. This new addition strengthens BYD’s global shipping capabilities for electric vehicles.
Expanding Export Logistics
The BYD Changsha is the third 9,200-capacity roll-on/roll-off ship in the fleet, following BYD Shenzhen and BYD Xi’an. It was named after BYD’s Changsha production base in Hunan province and entered service after successful trials earlier this month.

Overseas Sales Momentum
In May alone, BYD sold 89,047 vehicles overseas — a 137% YoY surge. This accounted for over 23% of its total NEV sales that month, totaling 382,476 units.

Strategic Global Deployment
Chairman Wang Chuanfu stated that BYD expects continued growth overseas. The company will focus future capital on localization to benefit from the global EV shift.

Fleet Expansion Overview
BYD’s fleet now includes six car carriers: Explorer No. 1, Hefei, Changzhou, Shenzhen, Xi’an, and the new Changsha. All ships except the Explorer No. 1 are named after BYD production bases.
