Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the largest selling automaker in India, commenced the calendar year of 2025 on a high note. The company reported their highest-ever monthly sales tally in Jan 2025 with 2,12,251 units sold. This was a YoY growth from 1,99,364 units sold in January 2024.

Maruti sales across its extensive passenger vehicle segment saw the mini segment suffer a YoY decline to 14,247 units. This segment which comprises of Alto and S-Presso saw its sales dip from 15,849 units sold in Jan 2024. Its YTD sales too fell sharply to 1,03,889 units in the past month from 1,15,483 units sold in the same month last year.
On the other hand, the compact segment with Baleno, Celerio, Dzire and the like witnessed a sharp improvement. Sales grew from 76,533 units sold in Jan 2024 to 82,241 units last month. The segment, however, saw its YTD sales dip to 6,30,889 units over 6,86,544 units sold in the FY2023-24 period. This took mini and compact segment sales to 96,488 units, down from 92,382 units on a YoY basis while YTD sales dipped to 7,34,778 units.
There was higher demand for Maruti Ciaz rose sharply. Ciaz sales grew to 768 units from 363 units on a YoY basis. However, its YTD sales fell sharply to 6,629 units in the FY2024-25 period from 9,266 units sold in the same period last year.
Utility vehicles, being the highest in demand recorded 65,093 unit sales for the company in Jan 2025. This was over 62,038 units sold in Jan 2024. YTD sales too improved to 5,94,056 units from 5,22,626 units in FY2024-25 and FY2023-24 respectively.
Of Maruti Eeco, there were 11,250 units sold last month, a decline from 12,019 units sold in Jan 2024. YTD sales ended positively with 1,13770 units sold in FY2024-25 period over 1,12,973 unit sales of FY2023-24. This took total passenger vehicle domestic sales to 1,73,599 units in Jan 2025 and to 14,49,233 units on a YTD basis showing off strong growth. It also has strong MoM growth over 1,30,117 units sold in Dec 2024.

Maruti Suzuki has Super Carry as its sole offering in this segment. It competes with Tata Ace. Its sales grew to 4,089 units in Jan 2025 from 3,412 unit sales of Jan 2024. YTD sales too improved sharply to 29,391 units over 27,025 units. Maruti’s PV+LCV sales target thus touched 1,77,688 units in domestic markets marking a strong YoY growth from 1,70,214 unit sales of Jan 2024.
Besides these sales, the company also offers certain models to other OEMs as re-badged vehicles. These sales improved to 7,463 units in Jan 2025 from 5,229 units in Jan 2024. YTD sales saw a significant rise to 88,662 units in the FY2024-25 period from 48,491 units sold in FY2023-24.
Total exports also rose by significant numbers to 27,100 units in Jan 2025 from 23,921 units shipped in Jan 2024. YTD sales grew to 2,74,596 units in FY 2024-25 from 2,28,248 units sold in the same period of the previous year. This accounted for total domestic + exports of 2,12,251 units in Jan 2025 from 1,99,364 units of Jan 2024. YTD sales too improved to 18,41,882 units in the FY2-2024-25 period over 17,50,656 units sold in the same period last year.
