BYD sold 198,065 passenger BEVs in November, up 4.46 percent from October. Sales of passenger PHEVs were 305,938 units, down 1.60 percent from October.

BYD (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) saw a new sales record last month, and as the auto giant keeps growing.

The company sold 506,804 new energy vehicles (NEVs) in November, marking the second time it has surpassed the 500,000 mark and the sixth consecutive record month, according to data released today.

This represents a 67.87 percent increase from 301,903 in the same period last year and a 0.83 percent increase from 502,657 in October.

BYD ceased production and sales of vehicles powered entirely by internal combustion engines in March 2022, switching to focus on the production of plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV) and battery electric vehicle (BEV) models.

BYD’s NEVs include passenger cars as well as commercial vehicles, with passenger NEVs selling 504,003 units in November, up 67.23 percent year-on-year and up 0.69 percent from October.

Its commercial NEVs sold 2,801 units in November, up 433.52 percent from a year ago and up 31.44 percent from October.

BYD sold 198,065 units of passenger BEVs in November, up 16.41 percent from a year ago and up 4.46 percent from October.

Sales of passenger PHEVs in November amounted to 305,938 units, up 133.13 percent year-on-year but down 1.60 percent from October.

This is the first time BYD’s PHEV sales have seen a sequential decrease since February, after eighth consecutive record highs.

In November, BYD sold 30,977 vehicles in overseas markets, up 1.14 percent year-on-year but down 0.69 percent from October.

Of November’s overseas sales, 28,141 were exported from China, according to BYD.

In addition to being China’s largest NEV company, BYD is also China’s second-largest power battery maker.

BYD’s installed base of power and energy storage batteries amounted to about 22.472 GWh in November, up 32.62 percent year-on-year and up 6.92 percent from October.

Year-to-date performance

In the January-November period, BYD’s NEV sales amounted to 3,757,336 units, up 40.02 percent year-on-year.

Its passenger NEVs sold 3,740,930 units in January-November, up 39.97 percent year-on-year.

Commercial NEVs sold 16,406 units in the first 11 months, up 54.10 percent year-on-year.

BYD’s passenger BEVs sold 1,557,258 units in January-November, up 12.51 percent year-on-year.

BYD’s passenger PHEVs sold 2,183,672 units in January-November, up 69.45 percent year-on-year.

BYD sold 360,050 units overseas in January-November, up 74.21 percent year-on-year.

BYD’s installed base of power and energy storage batteries amounted to about 171.210 GWh in January-November, up 28.57 percent year-on-year.

BYD’s Dynasty lineup set to sell 2 million units this year, exec says
