Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) has announced its entry into the Nepalese automotive market and has begun deliveries of the G6 SUV (sport utility vehicle) there.

The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker opened its first flagship showroom in the country on November 9 in Kathmandu, Nepal’s capital city, marking its official entry into the local market.

Xpeng launched the G6 in Nepal with local distributor CG Motors and delivered the first 25 units of the model to customers, according to an announcement today.

Currently, there are more than 20 Xpeng sales and service outlets in Nepal and CG Motors plans to increase the number of service points to 40 within this year.

CG Motors also plans to build 200 additional charging points in its existing DC fast charging network of 244 locations to meet the rapidly growing charging needs of local users.

The G6, a Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y competitor, was launched in China on June 29, 2023, with deliveries beginning in early July last year.

The Xpeng SUV currently has a starting price of RMB 199,900 ($27,640) in China, lower than the RMB 249,900 for the locally produced Model Y.

To date, Xpeng has brought the G6 to several countries in Europe and Asia.

On November 5, Xpeng said the G6 had matched Tesla’s monthly deliveries in Singapore, just one month after starting local deliveries.
