Nio delivered 21,181 vehicles in September, the second-highest on record, including 20,349 from the main Nio brand and 832 from Onvo.
Nio (NYSE: NIO) saw another strong month of vehicle deliveries in September, with sub-brand Onvo starting to contribute.
The Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker delivered 21,181 vehicles in September, the second-highest on record behind June’s high of 21,209, according to data it released today.
That’s the fifth consecutive month that Nio as a group has delivered more than the 20,000 mark, including 20,349 for the main Nio brand and 832 for Onvo.
The monthly deliveries were up 35.42 percent from 15,641 in the same period last year and up 4.98 percent from 20,176 in August.
Nio delivered a record 61,855 vehicles in the third quarter, within the guidance range of 61,000 to 63,000 vehicles.
Deliveries for the quarter were up 11.59 percent year-on-year and up 7.81 percent from the second quarter.
So far this year, Nio has delivered 149,281 vehicles, up 35.72 percent year-on-year.
At the end of September, Nio’s cumulative deliveries since inception stood at 598,875, close to the 600,000-unit mark.
Onvo’s first model, the L60, went on sale on September 19 at a starting price of RMB 206,900 ($29,480) including the battery pack, RMB 43,000 less than the current starting price of RMB 249,900 for the Tesla (NASDAQ: TSLA) Model Y in China.
The SUV (sport utility vehicle) starts at RMB 149,900 when purchased on a BaaS (battery as a service) battery rental basis, with a monthly battery rental fee of RMB 599 or RMB 899 depending on the battery pack.
On September 28, Onvo began deliveries of the L60 in China.
Deliveries of the Onvo L60 are currently limited by production capacity, which usually takes several months to ramp up for new models.
Onvo promised on September 29 that customers who buy the L60 now will get deliveries within this year.
There’s good news coming out of Nio’s factories, and the bottlenecks that were limiting the rate at which capacity could be climbed were being quickly resolved, Onvo said in a question-and-answer session.
