Nio and Chery have entered into a partnership that opens up Nio Power’s charging network to brands including Chery, Exceed and Jetour.
Chinese auto giant Chery has plugged into Nio’s (NYSE: NIO) charging network, marking the 13th company to do so.
On September 10, Wuhan Nio Energy Co Ltd (Nio Power) signed a charging service cooperation agreement with Anhui Chery Green Energy Ecological Technology Co Ltd, Nio announced today.
Nio Power’s charging network is open to brands including Chery, Exceed and Jetour to provide extensive, efficient and convenient charging services, a brief statement from Nio said.
The partnership marks yet another company that has partnered with Nio on charging facility sharing, as they look to capitalize on one of China’s largest charging networks.
Nio’s charging network has always been open to other brands of EVs. The direct collaboration between other car companies and partners with Nio helps provide a better charging experience.
The EV maker has one of the largest number of public charging stations among Chinese car brands, with 2,339 supercharging stations providing 10,669 charging piles and 1,638 destination charging stations providing 12,613 chargers in China as of today.
The company’s signature battery swap stations number 2,510 in China, of which 843 are located along highways.
Nio provided 2,383,168 charging services in August, accumulating to more than 46.3 million charging services by the end of August, with 80 percent of those orders serving non-Nio-branded vehicles, according to data released by the company on September 4.
Chery is the second to announce a partnership with Nio on charging network sharing so far this month.
On September 5, Dongfeng Motor’s premium electric off-road brand, M-Hero, announced access to Nio’s charging network.
Before M-Hero, 11 brands including Geely, Jiyue, Polestar, and Hongqi announced access to Nio’s charging network, according to CnEVPost’s tracking.
