Xpeng (NYSE: XPEV) will start taking pre-orders for the M03, the first model in the Mona lineup, tomorrow, with the official launch expected later this month.

Xpeng’s Mona M03 will be available for pre-order at 10:00 am Beijing time on August 8, the Chinese electric vehicle (EV) maker’s chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng said today on Weibo.

Xpeng debuted the Mona M03 all-electric sedan on July 3, saying at the time that the official launch would be in August.

Since the Xpeng Mona M03’s official debut, many people are hoping to reserve the model soon, Mr. He said on Weibo today.

The production cars of Xpeng Mona M03 will roll off the line later this month, Mr. He said, without revealing a specific launch date for the model.

Mona stems from Xpeng’s acquisition of ride-hailing giant Didi Global’s EV business in August 2023, and it said at the time that it planned to launch a new brand in 2024 under the codename Mona.

However, in public communications over the past few months, Xpeng has referred to Mona as a new product lineup, rather than a new brand.

Xpeng said on July 3 that the Mona M03 would be priced under RMB 200,000 yuan ($27,850) and will have the strongest intelligent driving capabilities in its class.

The model has previously been included in China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) model catalog, showing it with length, width and heights of 4,780 mm, 1,896 mm and 1,445 mm, respectively, and a wheelbase of 2,815 mm.

Both variants in the regulatory catalog are single-motor models, both powered by lithium iron phosphate batteries, and supplier is BYD’s (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) battery division FinDreams Battery.

Xpeng has previewed the Mona M03 several times over the past month, unveiling exterior and interior details.
