BYD’s (HKG: 1211, OTCMKTS: BYDDY) premium brand Denza is making a filing for the Z9GT electric sedan, after giving the model its first preview earlier this month.

China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) today released its latest catalog of models that will be allowed to be sold for public comment, and the Denza Z9GT is included.

The public can submit their feedback between April 16 and 22. Entry into the catalog is the last major regulatory process by which a model can be allowed to be sold in China.

The DenzaZ9GT has only one page in that filing, with product model number QCJ7000AEBEV1 and production addresses that include BYD facilities in Changsha, Hunan; Hefei, Anhui; Jinan, Shandong; Zhengzhou, Henan; and Shenzhen, Guangdong.

The five-seater measures 5,180 mm, 1,990 mm, 1,500/1,480 mm in length, width and height, respectively, and has a wheelbase of 3,125 mm. Its height is 1,480 mm with the optional air suspension, and 1,500 mm without air suspension.

It weighs 2,875 kilograms and supports a top speed of 240 kilometers per hour.

Its power battery supplier is FinDreams Battery, the battery manufacturing arm of BYD.

Denza was founded in 2010 as a joint venture between BYD and Daimler, with each holding a 50 percent stake at the time. In February 2022, the Daimler brand was rebranded as Mercedes-Benz. BYD increased its stake in Denza to 90 percent in 2022.

Currently, Denza sells three models, including the N7 SUV (sport utility vehicle), N8 SUV, and D9 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle).

Denza will launch a smart luxury flagship sedan, which will be known globally as the Denza Z9GT, the company announced on April 7 on Weibo.

The Denza Z9GT is expected to be officially launched by the end of this year, CnEVPost previously learned.
