From January to June, BJEV sold 17,010 units, up 144.43 percent from 6,959 units in the same period last year.
BAIC BluePark, the new energy vehicle (NEV) brand of BAIC, said today that its subsidiary Beijing Electric Vehicle (BJEV) sold 3,597 units in June.
This is up 126.94 percent from 1,585 units in the same month last year and up 58.04 percent from 2,276 units in May.
In the January-June period, the company sold 17,010 units, up 144.43 percent from 6,959 units in the same period last year.
BJEV’s production in June was 1,898 units, up 496.86 percent from 318 units in the same month last year.
From January to June, BJEV’s production was 6,082 units, up 181.97 percent from 2,157 units in the same period last year.
BJEV was established in 2009 and is the first vehicle manufacturer in China to be qualified to produce NEVs.
It started producing pure electric vehicles in 2013, and saw pure electric vehicle sales reach 158,000 units in 2018.
But after 2019, BJEV started to go downhill. It sold only 26,127 units in 2021, which is comparable to the sales of a quarter of China’s major electric vehicle startups.
BJEV is now pinning its hopes on its Arcfox brand, which includes the Arcfox α-T SUV, unveiled in late October 2020, and the Arcfox α-S sedan, unveiled in late April 2021.
The most interesting of these is the “Huawei Inside” equipped Arcfox α-S, which was officially launched in China on May 7, making it the first production sedan to feature Huawei’s full-stack smart car solution and Huawei intelligent cockpit.

BAIC is offering two versions of the model, priced at RMB 397,900 ($59,690) and RMB 429,900 respectively.
It is not clear how many deliveries of the model were made in May and June.
