Chinese auto giant Geely sold 8,201 new energy vehicles in August, up 24 percent year-on-year and up 5 percent from July, according to data released by the company on Monday.

In the new energy vehicle segment, Geely’s product pipeline includes the Geometry A, Geometry C, Emgrand EV and Emgrand GSe.
Geely sold 88,348 units of all vehicles in August, down about 22 percent from a year ago and down about 11 percent from July.
The company said the Covid-19 outbreak in some regions and a global chip supply shortage affected its deliveries in August, but retail sales were still at an all-time high for the same period.
Geely exported 6,225 units in August, down 2 percent from a year earlier.
The company’s total sales in China in August were 82,123 units, down about 23 percent from a year ago.
It sold 817,860 units in the first eight months, up 9 percent from the same period last year, and reached 53 percent of its full-year sales target of 1,530,000 units.
Geely sold 29,792, 57,237 and 1,319 cars, SUVs and utility vehicles, respectively, in August.
Lynk & Co, in which the company has a 50% stake, sold 6,039 units in August, with cumulative sales of 132,137 units in the first eight months.
