Tesla and BYD were the top-selling new energy vehicle brands worldwide in June, according to recent sales figures for new energy passenger vehicles worldwide released by EV Sales.
In June, global new energy passenger vehicle sales reached 583,500 units, up 153 percent year-over-year. Among them, sales of pure electric vehicles were 407,000 units, a 154 percent jump year-over-year.
The top four new energy vehicle sales in June were Tesla’s 109,600 units, BYD’s 40,700 units, Volkswagen’s 35,000 units, and SAIC-GM-Wuling’s 29,900 units, according to the data.
In June, Tesla Model 3 ranked first with global sales of 70,400 units, Tesla Model Y ranked second with global sales of 36,700 units, and Hongguang Mini EV slipped to third place with global sales of 29,100 units.
From January to June, the cumulative global sales of new energy passenger vehicles reached 2546800 units, occupying 6.3 percent of the global auto market, the data showed.
From January to June, Tesla topped the list with sales of 386,100 units, while SAIC-GM-Wuling ranked second with cumulative sales of 191,500 units, and Volkswagen, BYD, BMW and Mercedes-Benz all had cumulative sales of more than 100,000 units.
From January to June, Tesla Model 3 still ranked first with 243,800 units, Hongguang Mini EV sold 181,800 units, Tesla Model Y sold 138,400 units, while no other model sold more than 100,000 units.
