The National Technical Committee of Auto Standardization (NTCAS) announced Wednesday that China has completed the first phase of the standard system for smart connected vehicles, according to a CCTV report on Thursday.

The report said the first phase of the standards system includes six national standards, including advanced driver assistance systems and blind zone monitoring systems, that have already been released, and 12 national standards, including vehicle driving automation classification, that are in the approval process.

The report cited experts as saying that the first phase of China’s smart connected vehicle construction goal was successfully achieved, marking the basic formation of a smart connected vehicle standard system in China that can support driver assistance and low-level autonomous driving.

The NTCAS is under the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) and Standardization Administration, and the construction of the standard system for smart connected vehicles includes more than 70 national standards and research projects.

The NTCAS also held the first exhibition on the standardization achievements of smart connected vehicles in the central Chinese province of Cangzhou, Hebei on Wednesday, showcasing nearly 100 standards on smart connected vehicles.
