WeRide becomes first self-driving company in China to receive ride-hailing license

WeRide, with L4 autonomous driving technology, has become the first autonomous driving company in China that receives a ride-hailing operation license, which was issued by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Transportation.

WeRide, with L4 autonomous driving technology, has become the first autonomous driving company in China that receives a ride-hailing operation license, which was issued by the Guangzhou Municipal Bureau of Transportation.

This is another milestone that the company has achieved in the field of self-driving, and the company will promote diversified self-driving cars in a large scale in the future, said founder and CEO Han Xu.

WeRide’s total self-driving mileage has exceeded three million kilometers and has received more than 100,000 passengers worldwide. Users can access the self-driving cab service by downloading the WeRide Go app.

In June 2019, WeRide was approved for road testing in Guangzhou, becoming one of the first companies to be qualified for road testing of intelligent network-connected vehicles in the city.
